The upcoming Amazon Prime Day phone deals will present the perfect opportunity to upgrade if you're on the hunt for an unlocked device. We've covered this event for many years now at TechRadar and it's always had a decent number of discounts on some of the best phones of the moment.

Right now, we don't officially know when this year's Amazon Prime Day will take place but we're already in the process of updating our content for 2024's big event. Generally speaking, Prime Day always takes place in the first or second week of July so there's not long until we'll be inundated with decent phone deals.

In the meantime, you can find everything you need to know about this year's upcoming Amazon Prime Day phone deals, including a selection of last year's best price cuts. If you're looking for a solid idea of what to expect, simply scroll down to the bottom of the page to check them out.

Amazon Prime Day phone deals: FAQ

When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?

No date has been announced for Amazon Prime Day 2024 yet, so stay tuned for an official update from the retailer. We'll be updating this page with any news so don't hesitate to bookmark and check in regularly.

The summer Prime Day usually takes place in the first or second week or July so it's likely we don't have long until the big sale actually takes place. This has been the case since the event's inception so we're not expecting any dramatic differences for 2024. We could, however, see a second Prime Day in October, which has become a regular fixture over the past few years.

What kind of phone deals should I expect on Prime Day?

If you're in the US, expect deals on unlocked Android devices exclusively. If you're in the UK, there may be a few listings for iPhones but again the best deals will generally be on Android devices.

That means you can expect great prices on devices from Samsung, Google, OnePlus, and other leading brands over Prime Day, without the annoying plans or contracts that are commonly needed at other carriers. The biggest savings are usually on the higher-end phones but Amazon has a decent stock of cheaper phones too that can be a great choice if you're looking to pair up a budget device with a cheap cell phone plan

Will you need a Prime account for these deals?

Yes - you'll need an active Amazon Prime account to be eligible for the vast majority of deals across Prime Day, phones included. There are a few exceptions to this, but generally speaking, all the best Prime Day phone deals will be exclusive to Prime members.

The good news is, if you're not signed up to Prime you can take advantage of the retailer's excellent 30-day free trial. Doing so will grant you unlimited access to all of this year's Prime Day events, any limited time bonuses that crop up, and all the usual perks like free delivery and access to various streaming platforms.

Amazon Prime: 30-day free trial

Amazon Prime: 30-day free trial
If you've never signed up before you can get a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime to get access to this year's Prime Day deals. You get the same benefits as paid members, including free delivery, and access to other services such as Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Gaming and more. You can cancel at any time during the trial to avoid paying the regular fee, which is $14.99 / £8.99 per month.

Last year's Prime Day phone deals (US)

Image

Google Pixel 7 Pro (128GB): was $899 now $799 on Amazon
Although we've waved farewell to the Pixel 7 Pro's lowest price to date during the heady days of Prime Day 2023, you can still pick up the company's current flagship with a $100 discount – at least when it comes to the 128GB and 256GB models, you'll still pay full price for the 512GB build.

Image

Google Pixel 6a: was $349 now $299 on Amazon
Sure, this isn't the same Prime Day all-time low, but $50 off the already-affordable Pixel 6a is still a worthwhile saving on a great value smartphone. The 6a offers amazing Google-exclusive features and plenty of power to take great photos. At its old price, it was on our list of best phones because it was already such a strong bargain, but now it's a steal. Buy two instead of whatever $600 phone you're also considering, you'll be happier.

Image

Google Pixel 7a: was $499 now $449 on Amazon
When we first reviewed the Pixel 7a, we liked the power and the photos but suggested waiting for a price drop. Well, here's that price drop, and it isn't huge but it makes the Pixel 7a an even better buy if you want the latest Google Tensor G2 chipset and all the exclusive features it brings at the lowest possible price. It might get cheaper eventually, but this is the best price we've seen so far.

Image

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: was $1,799.99 now $1,099.99 on Amazon
We've got good news and bad news about this Galaxy Z Fold 4 Prime Day deal. The bad news is the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is coming soon. The good news is the new Z Fold 5 may not be a huge upgrade, and this massive price drop on the current Galaxy Z Fold 4 makes it an amazing bargain, if you want one of the best foldable phones you can buy right now.

Image

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: was $1,379.99 now $979.99 on Amazon
In the aftermath of Prime Day, our best phone overall retains its biggest discount to date ($400), but this deal only remains on the highest-capacity 512GB model, making it cheaper than one of its hottest camera phone rivals: the Pixel 7 Pro.

With a real 10x optical zoom camera, a hidden S Pen stylus, and the most features possible in a water resistant, stylish and durable design, this remains the phone to beat, especially with this almost-30% reduction that isn't likely to stick around.

Image

Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus: was $1,119.99 now $819.99 on Amazon
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus is the middle child of the Galaxy S23 family, but that doesn't mean it's an underachiever. It's the right size, it packs plenty of photographic punch, and it uses the same fast Snapdragon processor as the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Amazon has the high-capacity 512GB model on sale for the lowest price we've seen – even lower than the first day of Prime Day, so if you plan on recording a ton of video with that 8K-capable camera, this is the Galaxy S23 Plus you need to buy.

Image

Samsung Galaxy A54: was $449.99 now $399.98 on Amazon
At full price the Galaxy A54 was a bargain 5G phone, giving you a great Samsung design that looks like its best Galaxy S phones, along with a top notch screen and a big battery. You can't get it for as cheap as Prime Day but the Awesome Purple option still comes with $50 off right now, making it a solid deal on a phone that was already nicely priced.

Image

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: was $999.99 now $872.97 on Amazon
The best Z Flip 4 Amazon deal you're going to find post Prime Day is on the 128GB Graphite model, which benefits from a 13% reduction, otherwise at this stage it might be worth waiting to see what happens to pricing post Z Flip.5 launch, expected at the end of the month. Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 4 is the most mature foldable you can buy, with polished software and Samsung's excellent service and support.

Image

Samsung Galaxy Z devices: register your interest to get $50 off your preorder at Samsung
This was never a Prime Day phone deal per se but it's well worth checking out Samsung's latest reservation campaign surrounding its 'mystery' new foldable devices. Reservations are now open for Samsung's latest devices – highly likely to be the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5. Put down your email now to register your interest and you'll get $50 off your pre-order when the time comes. Note that this is non-committal, so you can choose to back out if you decide at a later date that the device isn't for you.

Image

Motorola Razr Plus (2023): free Bose QC Earbuds II
$299.99 value – So it's not technically a price drop, but if you had your eye on a set of Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II, one of our best sets of noice cancelling earbuds around, you can get a free pair if you buy a Motorola Razr Plus 2023 directly from Motorola (at full price). The only thing better than a good discount is a great bundle, and this bundle qualifies.

Image

Motorola Razr Plus (2023): was $999.99 now $899.99 at Amazon
Save $100 – A price drop already on the great new Motorola Razr Plus 2023, and you don't even need to sign a contract agreement. While not its Prime Day peak of $150 off, this remains a solid deal for the new Razr Plus, which justifies its higher price with a huge cover display, giving you half an extra phone on the outside of your flip.

Image

OnePlus 10T: was $699.99 now $529.99 on Amazon
The OnePlus 10T offered some premium specs for a great price when it launched, but this post Prime Day deal brings the high-capacity model of this phone to $30 above its best price ever (which was during Prime Day). You get faster charging than any Samsung Galaxy or iPhone, plus great performance from a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor.

Image

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: was $1,199.99 now $799.99 at Amazon
While a far cry from its $649 low on Woot!, the S22 Ultra just dropped below its best price on Prime Day, making it one of the more prominent flagship phone deals on the retailer's site right now. It's currently available for a third off its original retail price on the 128GB model, at $799.99. While a little older now, we still heartily recommend the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Image

Sony Xperia 5 III: was $999.99 now $598 on Amazon
This is a fine deal on one of the few compact phones you can buy that doesn't behave like a compact. It's just as powerful as a big flagship phone, with great Sony cameras (Sony makes camera sensors for the iPhone). Amazon usually sells this phone for just under $700, so this is a $100 price drop from the best price we've seen on this Xperia.

Image

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: was $1,799 now $1,599 at Samsung
Not its Prime Day low but Samsung is still offering instant savings of $200 on any storage version of the Z Fold 4. While the Pixel Fold is definitely offering stiff competition these days, we'd still rate the Galaxy Z Fold 4 as an exceptional foldable, device thanks to its well-thought-out and refined design, great cameras, and beautiful displays.

Image

Google Pixel Fold: get up to $900 off with a trade-in, plus a free Google Pixel Watch at Verizon
Verizon's first-ever Google Pixel Fold deal is here and it's offering an excellent combination of a trade-in rebate of up to $900 off plus the option to bundle in a free Google Pixel Watch. An unlimited plan is needed to be eligible for this deal and you'll also need to get a line for the Pixel Watch if you choose to bundle it in but you're potentially looking at an added value of $1,200 with this particular deal.

Image

Google Pixel Fold: $52.23 $25 per month with unlimited data plan at AT&T
AT&T's opening Pixel Fold deal forgoes the usual trade-in for a huge (over 50%) monthly saving on the device. While you'll need an unlimited data plan to be eligible for this device saving, the barrier of entry is quite low with this one, considering you don't need to hand over a highly valued old device to be eligible for a saving.

Image

Apple iPhone 14 Plus: free with new unlimited line, plus $200 off iPad and Apple Watch at Verizon
Calling it here – this is the best cell phone deal going right now at Verizon. Not only is the carrier offering the relatively new iPhone 14 Plus for free with an unlimited data plan, but you don't need the usual trade-in to be eligible here, just a new line. On top of the massive device saving here, Verizon customers can also bundle in an Apple Watch for $5 per month as well as get an additional $200 saving on an iPad. Great savings, but it's worth noting you will need a separate cellular line for these accessories, so bear that in mind. Switchers will also get an additional $200 gift card.

Google Pixel 7a + 30W Pixel Charger: was £449 now £399 at Amazon
Android fans on a budget should consider the Google Pixel 7a while it's £50 off in this deal; bundled with a fast 30W charger that's usually £25 by itself. This phone is the brand's latest mid-range device and essentially a slightly scaled-down version of the standard Pixel 7. Despite that, it still manages to pack in the same chipset, an outstanding camera, and a 90Hz display, despite being around £100 to £200 cheaper.

Image

Google Pixel 7 Pro (256GB): was £949 now £799 at Amazon
Good software, brilliant cameras, and a design that stands out, we recommend the Pixel 7 Pro as one of the best Android phones right now. Amazon Prime Day saw £190 off the asking price of higher storage model of Google's current best phone, but it's gone up in price by £50 now – still a respectable deal, though.

Image

Google Pixel 7: was £599 now £442 at Amazon
Good software, brilliant cameras. The Pixel 7 is one of our favourite Android phones, finding its way into our best Android phones list. This deal takes over £150 off the asking price, making it an absolute steal for what is a superb device with a killer camera, backed by AI smarts.

With Google's Pixel Buds Pro coming along for the ride for £625 (if you opt for the 128GB model), you're sure to enjoy your first dip in the Google ecosystem. A 256GB bundle is also on sale, with the price being dropped down by £150.

Image

Google Pixel 7a + 30W Pixel Charger + case: was £478.99 now £428.99 at Amazon
Android fans on a budget should consider the Google Pixel 7a while it's £50 off in this post-Prime Day deal, compared to it normal pricing. Bundled with a fast 30W charger that's usually £25 by itself and a case that costs about the same (which Amazon typically bundles together for £478.99), it's a lot more impressive. This phone is the brand's latest mid-range device, and is essentially a slightly scaled-down version of the standard Pixel 7, but still manages to pack in the same chipset, an outstanding camera, and a 90Hz display, despite being around £100 to £200 cheaper.

Image

Samsung Galaxy A54 (256GB) was £499 now £419 at Amazon
Don't want to spring for a Samsung Galaxy S series phone? The A54 looks the part and works almost as well for your day-to-day needs. We've published a Galaxy A54 review here on TechRadar, and it's just about one of the best cheap phones you can buy.

A nice design, reliable cameras, and Samsung's long-term software and security support mean that you can keep this 256GB model for almost five years before you start feeling the pinch.

Image

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: was £999 now £599 at Amazon
A far cry from the glorious depths of its Prime Day low, but you can still get money off Samsung's current clamshell foldable, just £100 off in place of the previous £400, so it could be worth waiting for the Z Fold 5 to push the Fold 4 down again, if you can wait. The Z Flip 4 is a beautiful foldable that resurrects the fun that was present in old flip phones, bringing in powerful specs like the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, a camera that's almost as good as what you'll find on the best Android phones, and a chic design that's sure to stand out from the crowd.

Image

iPhone 14 Pro Max (256GB): was £1,309 now £1,169 at Amazon
Apple's iPhone 14 Pro Max remains one of the absolute best smartphones you can buy. This 256GB model ensures you have enough space to store almost everything you want, from apps, to games, to photos you take on that lovely 48MP camera. It's also the first iPhone with an Always-On-Display and the intriguingly unique Dynamic Island.

This offer's saving makes it easier to get a phone you're sure will last you for years to come. A 512GB model is also available, taking it down from £1,529 to £1,454.

Image

Sony Xperia 5 IV: was £949 now £779.88 at Amazon
We're yet to see an Xperia 5 V (that's "five mark five") launch, making this offer on the Xperia 5 IV the best deal you're likely to find on company's current compact flagship. We're always impressed with Sony's ability to cram so much of the Xperia 1 line's flagship experience into the smaller form factor of the Xperia 5 series and the 5 IV doesn't disappoint. During Prime Day, it was on offer at lowest price we've ever seen, but it's still discounted by just under £170, provided you go for the green model, the other colourways are also reduced but not by as much.

Image

Honor Magic 5 Pro: was £949 now £799 on Amazon
The Honor Magic 5 Pro saw a 20% discount this Prime Day, but the price went up by £40 at midnight. This is a savings of £150 to a handset we graded highly in our Honor Magic 5 Pro review. The phone comes with a beautiful display that's one of the brightest rated. We praised its cameras as 'exceptional', and the performance and battery supplied by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mean you won't be dissatisfied.

Image

OnePlus 11 256GB and OnePlus Buds Pro 2 bundle: was £799, now £721 at Amazon

The OnePlus 11 is one of the best Android phones you can buy. Our OnePlus 11 review shows that the company has worked on its flaws and built out a handset with long lasting battery, a big and beautiful screen, and a camera that more than earns its accolades.

The OnePluds Buds Pro 2 are also really good earbuds which we've rated quite highly for their OnePlus phones integration, their rich bass, and future proof standards support.
